Sunday Reflections: A Week in Review ~ 2/20/22

I’m a bit delayed posting this recap today. Our PoPo is going through some stuff. He had fallen on Monday and then again (twice!) on Wednesday. After all the nonsense with MoMo embellishing her condition for tea and sympathy, B opted to hang back and allow his parents to make their own decisions for their medical needs. They had someone coming to the house to assess MoMo for P/T and decided to wait until then which was yesterday. Before they got there, things took a turn for the worse, he had post stroke like symptoms, slurred speech and unable to walk. Hindsight is 20/20 but we should have insisted he see someone Wednesday, overstep and say “now you listen to me”. Such a weird turn of events to become partental to your parents. Diagnosis dehydration and severe kidney infection. He’s in good hands now, staying in the hospital through Monday or Tuesday.

Crisis averted … we hope. They hadn’t really planned for retirement and they never even considered retirement with medical needs. That’s part of the reason I cleaned house yesterday. Another Swedish death clean. Papers and “stuff” into recycling or trash. Not to sound too morbid but we’ll have our hands full as they prepare to downsize into some form of assisted living. Yes, that is where we are … where we would have already been if only MoMo had agreed.

Here we go now, the main event.

Peace y’all. Until next time. Stay safe.

As always, more to come.

  1. My spouse is dealing with the same drama but from 3000 miles away
Loved ones there are assisting. Assisted living should have occurred months ago, but they found it.

    1. I’m sorry to hear your husband it going through this too. I can’t imagine from 3000 miles away. We are next door which has proven immensely helpful. I’m glad they found the place. It’s terribly expensive and since they didn’t really plan for it, yikes!

      1. His dad is still in the hospital. They evidently are at the mercy of the Canadian medical system. There is no word yet of when he will get a room in a nursing home. Step one.
