Hello friends! Time for #JusJoJan. My word was picked for today. Woo to the Hoo!!! I feel just like I won the lottery!! Muchos Gracias Linda!!! How’s that for serendipity?
Well, … the actual winning part of the lottery is serendipity. Though the jury is out on whether winning is really such a good thing. The aftermath can be brutal. Tis true, money changes people and not always for the better. My current read “Nine Perfect Strangers” by Lianne Moriarty has a married couple struggling with that exact issue. No spoilers but highly recommended read. This book is being made into a TV series, just like “Big Little Lies”
But my word being chosen is not a good example of serendipity because the chance element is missing. You see we got a hint that the post for prompts part 2 would go up 1/16/19 @ 1 pm EST. I set a timer y’all. Am I shameless or what?
Hmm, what’s another example of the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way?
Oh ya. Here you go. I used to attend monthly Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) meetings which always had a door prize. I was committee chair and part of my duties were getting those door prizes and arranging the raffle/drawing. I’d put a ticket in the hopper for each attendee. I always dropped in the name of the speaker as well.
After one particularly inspiring speech from Dr. Reyna, we had the drawing and he won. As he was given the prize, without even opening it, he handed the gift to the person sitting nearest to him and exclaimed “Serendipity!!!” People cheered!! And of course I had to go home and look up that word. You see this was pre-cell phone days. Mr. Google was yet to be my friend. And I didn’t carry around a dictionary with me.
Ever since then I try to find opportunities to be a part of serendipity. I want to be just like Dr. Reyna. He is perpetually happy and gracious. He is living proof that a positive attitude is powerful. Now go out there and take some chances. Serendipity!!!!!
As always, more to come.
