Share Your World ~ 8/31/21

Wait! Don’t go August. Hard to believe we’ll have only four more months of 2021. Melanie is providing the set up yet again. Back in the older days, set ups meant coke, sprite, or club soda. Beer and set ups meant time to partay!!! ‘Nuf silliness. We’re going deep on these today.

QUESTIONS

Are human beings required to better themselves and will doing that make them happier? No and yes. I think the word required is throwing me. For way too many years I did exactly what I thought was expected or required of me. Not anymore. I want to break free ala Freddie and the rest of Queen. However, there have been studies which show people just want to feel necessary and needed. Upskilling/bettering yourself is a nice way to do that. Might even make one happier. But might also be relative. Since as feature image from Frida Kahlo (which I wholeheartedly agree with) states in a nutshell happiness is a daily choice.

Is it easier to love or to be loved? Loving is easy (sounds like a song lyric to me). When I really think about this question, for me, to be loved is easier. But that’s only because of B who says very little but does everything. Actions do speak louder than words where he is concerned.

Outside traumatic brain injury, can memories be completely erased? Yes I do believe that over time memories can fade away completely. Our brains can hold only so much information. We are bombarded daily. In my case, eventually older memories are replaced with newer memories, Though some things from the past are memories that for whatever reason I hold on to forever.

Is there such a thing as a good death? Yes when the suffering is too much to bear. My Mamaw and my mom are examples of that. Cancer is a bitch.

and one ‘silly’ one because the former questions were fairly serious:   What do you imagine is inside a baseball?    A bunch of string at least I think that is what was there when my brother cut one open.

GRATITUDE SECTION

Feel free to share something uplifting this week!  I’m grateful that I was able to complete part of my quarterly audits yesterday because we got a dispensation to use July data. Woo to the Hoo!! I LOVE being early 🙂

As always, more to come.

#SLS Part 2 ~ 8/29/21

Part of self-care for me is listening to music. I made it through the whole list and didn’t see this song though the pretender was used often. Here is same title different lyrics. The Pretender by the Foo Fighters. Writer(s): Grohl David Eric, Hawkins Oliver Taylor, Mendel Nate, Shiflett Christopher. If it’s a repeat my apologies. The energy coming from the band is contagious. I just had to share. More at the Wiki

Keep you in the dark
You know they all pretend
Keep you in the dark
And so it all began

Send in your skeletons
Sing as their bones go marching in again
They need you buried deep
The secrets that you keep are at the ready
Are you ready?
I’m finished making sense
Done pleading ignorance, that whole defense
Spinning infinity, boy
The wheel is spinning me
It’s never-ending, never-ending
Same old story

What if I say I’m not like the others?
What if I say I’m not just another one of your plays?
You’re the pretender
What if I say I will never surrender?
What if I say I’m not like the others?
What if I say I’m not just another one of your plays?
You’re the pretender
What if I say that I’ll never surrender?

In time or so I’m told
I’m just another soul for sale, oh well
The page is out of print
We are not permanent, we’re
Temporary, temporary
Same old story

What if I say I’m not like the others?
What if I say I’m not just another one of your plays?
You’re the pretender
What if I say I will never surrender?
What if I say I’m not like the others?
What if I say I’m not just another one of your plays?
You’re the pretender
What if I say I will never surrender?

I’m the voice inside your head
You refuse to hear
I’m the face that you have to face
Mirroring your stare
I’m what’s left
I’m what’s right
I’m the enemy
I’m the hand that’ll take you down
Bring you to your knees
So who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
Yeah, who are you?

Keep you in the dark
You know they all pretend

What if I say I’m not like the others?
What if I say I’m not just another one of your plays?
You’re the pretender
What if I say I will never surrender?
What if I say I’m not like the others?
What if I say I’m not just another one of your plays?
You’re the pretender
What if I say I will never surrender?

What if I say I’m not like the others?
(Keep you in the dark)
What if I say I’m not just another one of your plays?
(You know they all)
You’re the pretender
(Pretend)
What if I say I will never surrender?
What if I say I’m not like the others?
(Keep you in the dark)
What if I say I’m not just another one of your plays?
(You know they all)
You’re the pretender
(Pretend)
What if I say I will never surrender?
So who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
Yeah, who are you?

Jim prompts us with Fraud, Hypocrite, Phony, Pretender, Snob suggested by Angie Trafford. Thanks Angie & Jim. I picked Fake It by Seether. Songwriters: John Stephen Humphrey / Shaun Morgan Welgemoed / Dale William Stewart. We played this song on a loop back in the day since it dared to have the eff word in it. More at the wiki I hope you enjoy!

Who’s to know if your soul will fade at all
The one you sold to fool the world
You lost your self-esteem along the way
Yeah

[Chorus:]
Good god you’re coming up with reasons
Good god you’re dragging it out
Good god it’s the changing of the seasons
I feel so raped
So follow me down
And just fake it if you’re out of direction
Fake it if you don’t belong here
Fake it if you feel like affection
Woah you’re such a fucking hypocrite

And you should know that the lies won’t hide your flaws
No sense in hiding all of yours
You gave up on your dreams along the way
Yeah

[Chorus]

Whoah
Whoah

I can fake with the best of anyone
I can fake with the best of em all
I can fake with the best of anyone
I can fake it all

Who’s to know if your soul will fade at all
The one you sold to fool the world
You lost your self-esteem along the way
Yeah

[Chorus]

Fake it if you’re out of direction
Fake it if you don’t belong here
Fake it if you feel like infection
Woah you’re such a fucking hypocrite

Sunday Reflections: A Week in Review ~ 8/29/21

What a noisy week. The new roof is on. We went with standing seam and with B working his magic, we got a really good deal. Half price in fact. The ‘brother in law’ deal from someone we’ve never met. But the friend of a friend we’ve known since he was a toddler so there is that.

I love the new look. The roof makes a pretty big difference with curb appeal. Now we have to decide if we want the impact resistant credit with the cosmetic damage waiver or to keep full coverage. Decisions, decisions. As much as I don’t want to waive anything, my pocketbook has ideas of its own. We are opting to keep the high deductible. I’d rather pay the contractor if when we need repairs than an insurance company just in case.

The week has been emotionally draining too despite the goodness. I’ve had to turn off the news. Not that I want to be uninformed but the sadness is overwhelming. Prayers and heartfelt gratitude go out to all those affected.

The roll call will be brief, then I’m going back to self care, lounging and reading.

Peace y’all. Until next time. Stay safe.

As always, more to come.

My, my, my. What have we here? What we’ve got here … is … failure to communicate. Paul Newman. Cool Hand Luke. Philanthropist, salad dressing maker, movie star extraordinaire. The Captain is a jacka$$ just saying.

Hello fellow bloggers. Saturday has come around yet again. Like a good penny, it keeps turning up. Linda is our host with the most and I ALWAYS read her intros. How else am I going to know what to do?!? Today she writes and I copy paste …

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “my.” Start your post with the word “My.” Bonus points if you end your post with “yours.” Enjoy!

Guess you’ve cracked the code for the reason of my intro. I couldn’t wait until now to use the word my since I’m on the road to bonus points I’m telling ya what.

When I think of the word my, I’m usually excited. Whatever I proclaim comes with an exclamation point. Like MY word! or MY goodness or MY lord! I’m telling ya what. Twice in one post. lol

My goodness gracious, sakes alive. I’m always down for a good colloquial phrase. Like this one. My mama didn’t raise no fool.

She raised an empath. Someone told me that yesterday after we discussed a very awkward meeting where my coworker acted uncharacteristically. “So and so isn’t upset with you Jilly. She’s going through some personal stuff and you’re an empath who picked up on that.” Uh maybe? My whole life I’ve been referred to as sensitive. Guess there’s worse things to be considered.

Okay, time to land the plane. We’re staying in this Saturday. Enjoying being couch potatoes. I’m reading and lounging and reading some more. Ah, now that’s the stuff.

Golly I want those bonus points. As always more to come. Your truly or truly yours!

Thursday Thoughts ~ 8/26/21

I wrote something too controversial to post. Some words are best left unsaid ya know. In its place I had something good but I didn’t write down my thoughts quick enough. Which means I forgot. So much for good. Instead you get boring and wordy.

Not as good as what I thought about this morning but along the same vein, here goes nothing.

Dreams. I have been having lots of vivid dreams lately. Usually early in the morning after B gets up at 5 and before I have to get up at 7. I hear the beep, beep. beep of his alarm but quickly I am under again. Those are prime hours for the active imagination where I’m in deep REM sleep. I think I wrote before about how I was enamored with dreams and their meanings. I wanted to analyze them to make sense of the nonsensical. That’s not going to happen because I don’t remember them. All I know is I wake anxious because the dream is active like me running away from a lion or something.

I also used to be enamored with my horoscope. I read the daily and every month I’d get a scroll at Handy Andy. I miss the Handy Andy. I remember the candy and gum at checkout. Fruit Stripes and some cherry gum that I always had to have. Well that or fire sticks or jolly rancher green apple. The joy! lol

Alrighty, enough prattling about. Lemme let ya go.

#1linerWeds. 8/25/21

Linda is out there buying schools supplies for the last time. Bittersweet for sure. She still has time for us. #1linerWeds. is ready to roll. If you’d like to join in, here are the rules and ping back. My entry today is from the TV show Reservation Dogs

You listen, you learn, a warrior has to take a beating sometimes, that’s how he gets stronger you know, it’s all about getting back up again

Uncle Brownie

Our new favorite show, limit series I believe. I always draw correlations from TV into my real life. Timing is often coincidental but this line really hit home. My Pony Boy is a warrior !!

As always, more to come.
