HUMAN

I’ve been feeling less than human lately but now I’ve turned over another leaf. I could say new leaf but this is groundhog day. My process for life will be to keep raking those leaves … in a good way … like changing of the seasons. Speaking of places that have seasons, I will be in Salem MA by the end of next WEEK!!! Super stoked!

Anyway, back to the prompt, here’s the hum along song of the day because music is curative. I loved STP & played the hell outta this cassette. Yes, you read that right. I had cassettes & a cute little case for them. Up until I got my 2007 Chevy Impala SS. The 90s man what can I say … nothing … stream on … or do we all just hum along …

Friday Feels ~ 9/29/23

In the most unexpected of places, I find comfort. I’m going to continue to let my freak flag fly. LOL & bazinga … we do watch way too many re-runs of The Big Bang Theory.

In response to the following picture, a dear friend & former colleague commented on FB.

We had not talked in ages … since she retired. But for several years, 5 days a week, we interacted. She was my work auntie!! We may have even ridden in the vanpool together. Both from “da hood”.

• Friend – Always in deep thought
• Me – I need to turn that off
• Friend – no you don’t. You would not be Jill if you did.
• Me – aww I feel better

And I felt great! Made it ok to be Jill. Maybe I’m not as odd as I profess to be …

I also added a funny meme to my story “Sorry for acting weird , I am weird and it will happen again”

• Same Friend – Stop! You are not weird. Your friends would not change you one bit.
• Me – Thank you my friend! Just processing “stuff” with humor. Gotta laugh
• Same Firend – Yes laugh. I agree with the prescription. Hang in there.

Friday Book Club: J-Dub’s Review of “We Lie Here” By Rachel Howzell Hall ~ 9/29/23

Non-spoiler review from Goodreads: Read this book straight through without stopping. A fast paced thriller that kept me guessing until the end. A recommended read.

Highlights for my commonplace book …

• My body is telling on itself, and now – the story of my life, ouch, ouch ouch …
• I don’t want people messing around in my head, making me remember everything I’m trying to forget. My goal is to forgive & forget but not doing too well with that …
• At six feet three, he’s a redwood of a man Having just stood under a redwood recently, these words paint a vivid picture
• Plans were like tongues. Everyone had one and ignored the damn thing until it got bitten or burned. I love to plan but yea the follow through is another matter
• he’s caring, and he never says anything he doesn’t truly mean. Which is why he doesn’t talk much I’m going to pretend I know someone like this to explain silence but then it also confirms my worst fear … I mean nothing to him
• Or maybe my genetics are taking over, and the madness is setting in like pointy ears or thick eyebrows, also inherited from your parents I do wonder if one day the chickens will come home to roost bwahahaha

Thursday Thoughts ~ 9/28/23

I was at my wits end when I threw a lifeline to my Alt X group. I know people have opinions about the state of the former Twitter but dang if these folks didn’t come through in a huge way again.

I get plenty of care & concern in bloglandia too. WP saved my life. No joke.

But this topic is a sensitive one that you only understand if you too have experienced it. Walk a mile in my shoes so to speak. Now I have a path forward. That’s priceless!!!

Thanks Di for hosting! Here’s my two cents worth 1/2 penny. To play along, follow THIS link.

1. Do you remember your first teacher at school? Yes, her name was Felice Rodriguez. She and her husband Art were friends with my parents.

That’s her signature on my kinder report card.

2. What was your best and worst subjects? English and history tied for best. Math was my worst.

3. Were you encouraged in class or did you just muddle along? I loved school and was encouraged in class.

4. Would you like to be a student today? Yes, but not in a traditional setting.

Gratitude: We all make mistakes. The secret is to learn by them. That’s a lesson that doesn’t stick with me. I believe it is better to learn and move forward. But I have a hard time moving on. I get wrapped around the axel of my mistakes. If only & would’ve could’ve should’ve myself. I want to “fix” the mistake. Ugh! I’m practicing letting go, learning, moving on. Wish me luck.

#SLS ~ 9/24/23

Thanks Jim for hosting. Today we have bands with food in their names as suggested by Christine at Stine Writing and Miniatures. This should be FUN! I picked Bread, Everything I Own, Writer: David Gates about the loss of his father. I got their “Best of” album from Columbia House records & played it on a loop, not a bad song in the bunch. Hope you enjoy!!

Sunday Reflections: A Week in Review ~ 9/24/23

Well I doubled up on my posts on three days this past week but my stats show a dip in viewing. My extra effort didn’t pay off from # of views perspective but since I write for my enjoyment versus # views or other incentives, I’m going to keep on plugging away. I released the hounds a lil bit & that felt fantastic. I may never get to back to my early days of posting prolifically on a whim any time I feel like it. That’s okay too. Uh oh, my up is down & all around again … Not sure exactly what I’m doing except trying for bonus points. Speaking of, I’ve worked up a lusty appetite for breakfast … as in breaking fast … as in I skipped dinner last night. Too much pain. But right now. I feel better. When Casa de Jalisco opens at 6AM, I’m going to order me a big ole Jalisco omelet cuz I’m getting hangry. I might even start judging if I don’t get some sustenance stat!
