haiku – free & last ~ 1/16/23

Ronovan has picked the perfect words for today, the 16th of January 2023, when we honor & remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I get chills every time I rewatch his “I Have a Dream” speech. If that doesn’t bring you the feels, well you’re stone cold.

enfranchised

stripped of earthly bounds

final rest

I ended up opting for 3/5/3. I substituted ‘free’ with enfranchised. I love the way that words rolls off the tongue without the awful ‘dis’ in front of it. Then I substituted ‘last’ with final. ❤ Gone but not forgotten ❤

As always, more to come.

Thanks Linda for hosting. Thanks June for the prompt word optimism. Visit June’s blog to read her posts and say hello. HERE are the rules and ping back.

Optimism is my middle name. For those of you in the back, laughing, I can hear you. 😂 But it’s true! I am a very optimistic person. The thing is sometimes it takes me a while to get there. But the fun fact is I always get there to optimism, that place with unicorns 🦄 🦄 and rainbows 🌈 🌈.

It’s kind of like when one only knows joy because she has known sadness. It’s the same thing here. The juxtaposition. You need something to compare and contrast. Perhaps the better way to describe me is to say I am a pessimistic optimist. Now that’s me being silly 🙃.

Today is just lovely as I sit outside writing this post. The birds are chirping, the sun ☀️ is trying to peek 🫣 through the clouds ⛅️. It’s another day in paradise.

As always more to come.
