Monday I had a somewhat similar experience in that my key was stuck in the front door. I tried all I could do to get it out but nope. So I went about my day & picked up WD40 while out & about. Came home and was able to release the key from it’s lock. Luckily before any trick or treaters came by. I think I was pretty safe though since we are out in the boondocks & haven’t had goblins come to the front door in 22 Halloweens of living here.
