Good morning my lovelies! Cheers to a Saturday with cooler temperatures. I’ve been saying that often this last week. The air feels different, we are out of the 100s. I’m afraid I might have jinxed things though so mum’s the word.
Our host with the most, Linda G Hill, sets us up with the following: Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “a word that contains a silent letter.” Choose a word that contains a silent letter and use it in your post, or write about words with silent letters in general. Enjoy! To play along, HERE are the rules and ping back.
I randomly chose mum’s the word which just so happens to mean silence. More details – Mum is a Middle English word meaning ‘silent’, and may be derived from the mummer who acts without speaking. Note the similar English word “mime” (Old English “mīma”, Latin “mimus”) meaning silent actor or imitator.
But, and it’s big but, that is not the prompt. I’m playing fast and loose with the rules since there are no bonus points.
Word that contains a silent letter.
Think, think, and think.
We may be here a while. Haha. I get it once in a while. The h is silent. Well, duh. Hot diggity. We don’t say wu-hi-ll. Instead we say wu-eye-ll. LOL Phonetic spelling for the win. EYE = I. Why doesn’t eye = E-ye? Now this is just silly. I will land the plane & take off to parts unknown. RIP Tony ❤
On tap for today is a visit from Spectrum, our ISP. They better not screw things up because Lulu is permanent work from home & I am part time work from home. We need our services!!!!!! Beyond that I will be lounging & reading. A real slug.
As always, more to come.
