#SLS ~ 6/5/22

Today the theme is Disgust, Embarrassment, Guilt, Regret, Remorse, Shame suggested by Melanie aka Sparky. Thanks Jim for hosting. I picked All Apologies by Nirvana. I think there’s some shame, guilt, and regret in the lyrics. I’ve heard it’s over his regret of being an addict and not about Courtney despite married/buried lyrics. Hope you enjoy.

What else should I be?
All apologies
What else could I say?
Everyone is gay
What else could I write?
I don’t have the right
What else should I be?
All apologies

In the sun
In the sun, I feel as one
In the sun
In the sun
Married
Buried

I wish I was like you
Easily amused
Find my nest of salt
Everything is my fault
I’ll take all the blame
Aqua sea foam shame
Sunburn freezer burn
Choking on the ashes of her enemy

In the sun
In the sun, I feel as one
In the sun
In the sun
Married
Married

Married
Buried
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are
All alone is all we are

  1. I don’t know much of Nirvana. The Christian band DC Talk sometimes covered this song at concerts, changing the line “everyone is gay” to “Jesus is the way.” I’m not sure that Kurt Cobain would have approved!

  2. I have read that everyone is gay in some part. everyone has some feeling or sexual attraction or a desire for somebody that is their same sex and there should be no shame in that. Nice music Jill.
