#SLS ~ 3/6/22

The prompt is fruit and I look liberty to use a color that is also a fruit despite the song Orange Crush (Songwriters: Mills / Berry / Buck / Stipe) not really being about fruit. I partially did this because I’m sticking with the same band from last week R.E.M. Hope you enjoy!!

I’ve got my spine, I’ve got my orange crush
(Collar me, don’t collar me)
I’ve got my spine, I’ve got my orange crush
(We are agents of the free)
I’ve had my fun and now it’s time to serve your conscience overseas
(Over me, not over me)
Coming in fast, over me (oh, oh)

I’ve got my spine, I’ve got my orange crush
(Collar me, don’t collar me)
I’ve got my spine, I’ve got my orange crush
(We are agents of the free)
I’ve had my fun and now it’s time to serve your conscience overseas
(Over me, not over me)
Coming in fast, over me (oh, oh)

High on the roof, thin the blood
Another one came on the waves tonight
Comin’ in, you’re home

We would circle and we’d circle and we’d circle to stop and consider and centered on the pavement stacked up all the trucks jacked up and our wheels in slush and orange crush in pocket and all this here county, hell, any county, it’s just like heaven here, and I was remembering and I was just in a different county and all then this whirlybird that I headed for I had my goggles pulled off; I knew it all, I knew every back road and every truck stop

I’ve got my spine, I’ve got my orange crush
(Collar me, don’t collar me)
I’ve got my spine, I’ve got my orange crush
(We are agents of the free)
I’ve had my fun and now it’s time to serve your conscience overseas
(Over me, not over me)
Coming in fast, over me (oh, oh)

High on the roof, thin the blood
Another one climbs on the waves tonight
Comin’ in, you’re home

High on the roof, thin the blood
Another one climbs on the waves tonight
Comin’ in, you’re home

Sunday Reflections: A Week in Review ~ 3/6/22

Short and sweet. I’m dragging today. A bundle of nerves and no reason why. Oh wait! Long and loopy. Today is the two year anniversary of the end of the world as we know it. Well a version of the end because in history, what happened two years ago, isn’t the first/beginning. On this day, March 6, 2021, from FB –

Lulu and the boyfriend came home for Spring Break. Little did we know that they would not return except to collect their belongings. March 6, 2020 was the start to an unplanned new beginning thanks to Covid-19.

Yeah I said beginning. Not the end. If I have learned anything in this one year that felt like a fucking decade, it’s that “life finds a way”. Parroting Jeff Goldblum.

Before the pandemic, we were in a State of Denial walking around in a World of Hurt. Too afraid to say anything for fear of upsetting the apple cart. Faux happiness, air kisses one and all!! Muah!! Hamsters on a wheel doing what was expected not necessarily what we wanted. Nothing like having fear, worry, and major changes from the Rona daze thrust upon you to bring about an epiphany.

I could rattle off all the bad things that happened in 2020 (who would’ve thought 2021 would be worse but staying out of politics, it sure is even if not a direct hit to me & my family personally). Lord have Mercy there were some shameful events. But there were glimmers of collective goodness too (this is still true too). People did as people do, they helped one another. My gratitude journal has a full years worth of three good things on each day. I didn’t have to stretch to find new examples either. I just looked past the doom & gloom headlines standing in the way.

Might be crazy to say but in hindsight this kick in the pants was what we needed. I count myself lucky to be able to say that because we were spared the worst from the virus. Immediate family is still intact and fully vaccinated. Sickly bunch of us all with chronic health conditions. (Knock on wood we’ve not had the vid … yet)

Something about marking this one (now two) year anniversary makes me really ready to start living again. (Why did I not do this in 2021? If anything, I went backwards a bit) Hope you fine folks are ready too. I can almost hear the shouts “Hell YES!!!”

Now here’s the roll call for last week.

Peace y’all. Until next time. Stay safe.

As always, more to come.
