Sunday Reflections: A Week in Review ~ 2/20/22

I’m a bit delayed posting this recap today. Our PoPo is going through some stuff. He had fallen on Monday and then again (twice!) on Wednesday. After all the nonsense with MoMo embellishing her condition for tea and sympathy, B opted to hang back and allow his parents to make their own decisions for their medical needs. They had someone coming to the house to assess MoMo for P/T and decided to wait until then which was yesterday. Before they got there, things took a turn for the worse, he had post stroke like symptoms, slurred speech and unable to walk. Hindsight is 20/20 but we should have insisted he see someone Wednesday, overstep and say “now you listen to me”. Such a weird turn of events to become partental to your parents. Diagnosis dehydration and severe kidney infection. He’s in good hands now, staying in the hospital through Monday or Tuesday.

Crisis averted … we hope. They hadn’t really planned for retirement and they never even considered retirement with medical needs. That’s part of the reason I cleaned house yesterday. Another Swedish death clean. Papers and “stuff” into recycling or trash. Not to sound too morbid but we’ll have our hands full as they prepare to downsize into some form of assisted living. Yes, that is where we are … where we would have already been if only MoMo had agreed.

Here we go now, the main event.

Peace y’all. Until next time. Stay safe.

As always, more to come.

#SoCS ~ 2/19/22

Whatever!

Saturday …

in the park …

you’d think it was the 4th of July

Doh! Whatever is wrong with me?!?

Instead it’s Saturday in the land of Linda’s #SoCS. Where the prompt follows …

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “whatever.” Use the word “whatever” any way you’d like. Bonus points if you start your post with it. Have fun!

Yay! I won!! Bonus score!!

Saying whatever in response to something meaningful to me or when I’m trying to explain something is very irritating. My kids do that sometimes. Whatever mom! Sort of a talk to the hand. Not as much anymore since we’ve figured out how to co-exist with them being adults and all.

Oh the horrors! They have grown up!! That’s good I guess or whatever. lol

Off to clean house. Yep I do that sometimes. Today I’m feeling productive and want to get stuff done. Wishing you all a sensational day. Until next time.

As always, more to come.

OMG So This Happened ~ 2/18/22

I had my virtual dry run of my story telling for our town hall on 3/2/22. They clocked me at 3 minutes 5 seconds. I get 4 minutes so I was given some gems to add. I’ll have one more virtual dry run, then an actual walkthrough the day before the BIG event. I go on about 6 minutes in.

Y’all I am giddy. I was given such positive feedback. Now I’m practicing. Prancing around like an I don’t know what. I might even choke up a little. But that’s ok since they’ll be genuine happy tears. Ernie predicts my closing will bring a standing ovation. Well at least she said she’ll stand for me 🙂

It should be a sin to be this happy!!!!

As always, more to come.

Thursday Thoughts ~ 2/17/22

Well it’s a go for 3/2/22. I will give the mission moment at our town hall. I’m super excited to say the least. I miss presenting. I forgot how much until this opportunity came along. There will be prep with the comms people and all that jazz. Pinch me I must be dreaming.

A dear friend and coworker said most people would say “hell no”. Not many see speaking in public as an opportunity. I’m not sure I see this as an opportunity either. The thought of this even makes me a little sick. I like riding the rollercoaster of life (said the Grandma from Parenthood). I’m also not expecting to gain anything. I just like to talk. I’m a storyteller. That’s what’s in it for me.

Happy Thursday folks!! Otherwise known around these parts as Friday-eve. Toodles for now.

As always, more to come.

#1linerWeds. 2/16/22

Congrats Linda!! Look HERE to find out what she won. The rules and pingback are there too. Now for #1liberWeds. Three questions and a sentence spilling onto two lines but oh well.

I’m stuck in TV 📺 land grasping at straws. Bob’s Burgers 🍔 is the source.

“What is this feeling I’m having? It’s like I’m feeling sad for someone other than myself. Is that a thing? Am I going crazy?”

Louise

Not crazy at all Louise. Not crazy at all.

As always more to come.

Share Your World ~ 2/15/22

I’m a day late and a dollar short. Melanie had some Valentine’s themed questions for us. As I kid, I so loved the paper Valentines exchange. Always made sure to have enough to give one to everybody. These days, for B and I, everyday is Valentines Day. Not that we’re all that mushy. In fact, we’re quite the opposite. Now onto the questions.

Questions

Which traditional Valentine’s Day  gift would you rather receive: chocolates, flowers, or a card with a personal message? Chocolates, always chocolates.

Do you like romantic movies? Not really. I don’t like romance novels much either.

Is Valentine’s Day only about romantic love? Or is it a good occasion to celebrate friendship as well? I’ve heard from Galentine’s Day. I like that idea. I think Valentine’s Day should be celebrated by everyone. As good an excuse as any to eat MORE chocolate. Or just spend time together.

How do you deal with unwanted romantic attention? No idea, I’ve never had any.

GRATITUDE SECTION (As always, optional)

Share one or two of your favorite memories of your special loved one if you’d like.

For some reason my memories are blocked right now. But I’m forever grateful that B takes good care of me. And I’m a handful if you haven’t figured that out yet. lol

As always, more to come.

#SLS ~ 2/13/22

Jim prompts us with songs containing contractions. I picked two faves that I’ve likely used already. Oh well. The Who is classic. Without further ado, first up Won’t Get Fooled Again. Songwriter Pete Townshend.

We’ll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again

The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that’s all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain’t changed
‘Cause the banners, they are flown in the last war

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again
No, no!

I’ll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I’ll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Oh I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?

There’s nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by the bye
And a parting on the left
Is now a parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again
Don’t get fooled again
No, no!

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

Second, Baba O’riley. The Who with good ole Pete writing again!!

Out here in the fields
I farm for my meals
I get my back into my living
I don’t need to fight
To prove I’m right
I don’t need to be forgiven

Don’t cry
Don’t raise your eye
It’s only teenage wasteland

Sally, take my hand
Travel south cross land
Put out the fire
Don’t look past my shoulder
The exodus is here
The happy ones are near
Let’s get together
Before we get much older

Teenage wasteland
It’s only teenage wasteland
Teenage wasteland
Oh, oh
Teenage wasteland
They’re all wasted!
