Thanks Linda for hosting!
The prompt for JusJoJan January 24th, 2022, is “unbelievable.” Use the word “unbelievable” any way you’d like. Have fun!
I’m the winner today!! My prompt earned the gold statuette. Not just an honor being nominated, but being chosen. Ha! How’s that for unbelievable? Or hysterical more likely. Why is using my prompt such a big deal?
Well because when the rest of my life is a sH!tshow, I grab on to any life preservers around. The little things make all the difference folks. Things around Casa de Dub Senior are unbelievable. Never in my life could I have imagined it would come to this sad state of affairs. I hope and I pray that when my time comes, I accept help graciously instead of deny what’s plain as the nose on my face. And if I am ornery as all get out, I hope my kids do as I have instructed and release the brake on my one day wheelchair to roll down from the highest hilltop on our place. Oops. Dark humor. Unbelievable! Saying things you don’t mean to let off the steam before we all scald ourselves.
As always, more to come.
I have to wonder if it it fear of the unknown or just cantankerous folks that refuse to do the right thing. I have had family members who looked for the best assisted living situation because they knew they needed it. I’ve also had family that refused to believe they couldn’t be on their own. Sadly, the latter led to disaster. I hope you have some better days ahead.

I think it is all of the above and depends on circumstance. This is her home of 40 years and she never lived alone. While assisted living isn’t exactly alone. she’d be in her own apt without her husband of 59 years. If she’d worked outside the home, moved a time or two, spent time on her own, she might be more independent and less afraid. That disaster you mention is one slip and fall away. I pray it does not come to that. It can only get better because it will change one way or another.

I had an aunt and uncle who went into an assisted living place together. It was the best way for them. They knew they couldn’t live on their own.

Nice one. If you need any help then be sure to holler. People are amazingly (and annoyingly) good at giving free advice. 🙂

Ha! That’s the best kind since it’s free 😂

Dark humor…I just love it so. Busting out laughing at the most inappropriate time relieves the tension for me. But I hope things go OK for you.
