#SoCS and #JusJoJan ~ 1/1/22

Yeah buddy! We’re starting out 2022 aka 2020 too with a bang. Here are the rules and ping back if you’d like to join in. Just joshing about the too part. At least I hope so. Now for the main event/combo. Linda gives us the following …

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “resolve.” Use it as a noun or a verb. Have fun!

I’m resolved to writing more poetry in 2022. This goal isn’t a New Year’s resolution mind you. Those are for suckers. Hehe. If I believe the stats resolutions fail more often than not. In my case, there’s too much stress to produce a new year, new leaf on a perpetual loop. Striving for perfection is hard. I’ll settle for good enough from now on.

Never say never

Resolve, finish with flourish

Brave enough to stop

Kinda corny but I’m really tired of the adage you can be anything you want to be. What a crock. For example, if I wanted to play basketball for the WNBA, not matter how much resolve I put toward my goal, that’s not gonna happen. Sometimes quitting is the braver choice. Instead let’s resolve to be kind so ourselves.

As always, more to come.

  1. Yeah, I’m with you! I did my big thing before the new year even started and that was giving up vaping! I’m not going to stress myself out this year making resolutions or promises I can’t keep. I do have a couple of goals though. I want to finish my transcriptionist course, and lose the weight I gained, or at least firm up some. I already started a walking program…today I’m taking off though, I’m too old to party like I did last night, lol. Happy New Year!🎊🎆

    1. Aww, this makes me happy!! Cheers to partying like we used too 🙂 I quit walking when the stray dogs took over and I never knew if they were going to be friendly or mean. Then my excuse was it’s too hot but I walked all of 2020 and it was just as hot then. Excuse after excuse when really it is I don’t wanna but I kind of do wanna … I always feel better after a good walk.

      1. Yeah, the hardest part is getting started. Once you do, then it gets easier, and you can also walk in the mall or something if the weather sucks outside. 😉

  2. I hadn’t heard, “Brave enough to stop,” but I like it, a lot. I like science fiction but could not be an astronaut because I get motion sickness really bad and I’m afraid of heights. If it don’t fit, don’t force it. Why go through all that stress? Let’s resolve to be kind to ourselves. I’m in for that!

    1. It’s really hard to stop when you’ve been conditioned to continue no matter what. I’ve lost track of things that I’ve done not for me but because they were expected of me. Or I thought they were expected of me. Cheers to 2022 with kindness to ourselves and each other.
