Preamble – you know those people in meetings who always have to talk? I’m not one of them. I know you’re shocked. Pretty sure I give off a vibe as a talky know-it-all. I like being the smartest person in the room … truly I do. Sometimes. Very few times. Never. Ya see, I fully recognize more often than not, someone else in that room is way smarter than me. And I’d do well to shut up and listen. Maybe learn a thing or two. Which brings me to today’s one liner, courtesy of my coworker from our convo on this topic.
Sometimes I know the answer and I still won’t say anything.

Maybe keeping my mouth shut is my versions of picking your battles or surviving in the corporate wild? Let the younger go-getters who always have to be right learn the hard way. But actually this has nothing to do with age. I’m convinced these aggressive overtalkers have a distinct personality trait which compels them to speak gibberish in crowds and to come hell or high water always be RIGHT. Me? I’ll stay a little to the left. wink wink 🙂
As always. more to come.
