Share Your World ~ 10/26/21

Why yes Melanie my dearest you did just write the last one of September. How we got to the end of October is a mystery. Only the shadow knows. Bwahahahaha. Time to get my answers out there.

QUESTIONS

Name something you wouldn’t want to run into in a dark forest or in an abandoned building  (yeah it’s a retread.  But there are new participants to SYW too who probably never answered it)  – an axe murderer

Do you believe in multiple dimensions or worlds? Why yes, I sure do.

Would you ever go to a graveyard at night? Yes and I have. We thought it was a cool thing to do. We hoped the donkey lady or ghost children would show up but alas we were on our own.

What is the most frightening book you’ve ever read? Something by William Peter Blatty maybe … mostly likely. Yep, the book was Legion not the Exorcist which he also wrote. I read the first few paragraphs and closed the book. One of the most graphic things I had read up to that time in my sheltered life. The reaction was visceral. How the hell could this get published 18 year old Jilly wanted to know. I eventually reopened the book and finished it. I’ve eventually read, seen, or heard worse but that one stuck with me.

BONUS QUESTION (just for silliness’ sake!)

If you could have a spooky Halloween pet (black cat, owl, bat, rat, wolf), which would you pick out of the five choices? Well a black cat of course.

  1. Thanks, Jilly, for Sharing Your World! I hope it was an awesome day too! 🙂 In the big cemetery in Salt Lake City there are a lot of stories of ghosts, and in the smaller, but still fairly large one in Ogden, there are more. The most interesting one which I’ve tried to actually find (you have to go looking after dark to see this too apparently) is “Emo’s Eyes”. There are a dozen stories easily about what those are and how they came to be there (on the grave stone) and so forth, but one thing is shared in all the tales – if you do see the eyes, it’s bad luck and you’re possibly slated to drop dead soon after viewing them. Legend? Maybe. I’ve looked for Emo’s eyes, and my mother and her sisters did in their day, and so on. Whomever Emo was and why he was cursed is lost in the mists of time, but I think he must have been highly eccentric and with a wicked sense of humor. The ‘eyes’ are some sort of luminous (green of course, that evil looking yellow green obviously) phenomenon that appears on the man’s head stone. They’ll follow a person around after they are seen, too.

Donkey lady? You must tell that tale sometime. That sounds really interesting! The children only sound rather sad or horrifying, depending on why children would ‘haunt’ a place (in theory or reality).

They made a movie entitled “Legion” and I wonder if it is based on the book you mention. I can’t watch stuff like that, I never saw the Exorcist (I was too young and impressionable to see it when it came out. My parents forbade us). I can understand that ‘evil’ feeling that seems to emanate from some writings, and it was probably very wise of you to just close the book until you were older.

Your animal choice was a fine one, and is probably the most popular one for this SYW any way. Mrowwer.

    Have a fantastic week!

    1. I love learning the story of Emo eyes. You had me at wicked sense of humor. lol.

Here is a donkey lady link https://texashillcountry.com/donkey-lady-bridge-san-antonio/
The child ghosts were supposed to be from a school bus accident with a train. They stayed by the track to push over your vehicle so you did not see a similar fate. Scientifically explained there was a magnetic pull and if you place your car in neutral, you would be pulled over the tracks.

And yes Legion became a movie. We were forbade to read or see the Exorcist too. My sister who was already out on her own saw it and had her date bring her back home to spend the weekend with us. She was to scared to go back to her own apartment. Quite the impact at the time.
