Jim at Janis’ suggestion prompts us with breakup songs. There sure are plenty to choose from. I eventually picked Mr. Brightside by the Killers. Writer(s): Brandon Flowers, Dave Brent Keuning. More at the wiki.
Coming out of my cage and I’ve been doing just fine
Gotta, gotta be down, because I want it all
It started out with a kiss, how did it end up like this?
It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss
Now I’m falling asleep and she’s calling a cab
While he’s having a smoke and she’s taking a drag
Now they’re going to bed and my stomach is sick
And it’s all in my head, but she’s touching his
Chest now, he takes off her
Dress now, let me go
And I just can’t look, it’s killing me
They’re taking control
Jealousy, turning saints into the sea
Swimming through sick lullabies, choking on your alibis
But it’s just the price I pay, destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes, ’cause I’m Mr. Brightside
I’m coming out of my cage and I’ve been doing just fine
Gotta, gotta be down, because I want it all
It started out with a kiss, how did it end up like this?
It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss
Now I’m falling asleep and she’s calling a cab
While he’s having a smoke and she’s taking a drag
Now they’re going to bed and my stomach is sick
And it’s all in my head, but she’s touching his
Chest now, he takes off her
Dress now, let me go
‘Cause I just can’t look, it’s killing me

Jealousy, turning saints into the sea
Swimming through sick lullabies, choking on your alibis
But it’s just the price I pay, destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes, ’cause I’m Mr. Brightside
I never…
I never…
I never…
I never…
One of my wife’s favorite songs.

I know absolutely nothing about The Killers but really enjoyed this. Will have to search out more now! Thanks once more for a great choice Jilly Bean.

I’m glad you liked it. My friend Mel copied this for me so we could listen to it as we carpooled to work. We no longer carpool sadly but this song always reminds me of her.

Interesting to see Eric Roberts in this. He’s built quite a career out of being a bad guy.

I thought the same with I saw him. He plays evil really well.

Julia was born and raised here in Smyrna, Georgia. One Christmas at Mass a friend of mine turned at the handshake of peace and she was standing behind him. She said “Yes, it’s me. Peace.”

Oh how funny. I would have been gobsmacked to see her there but I guess they are “real” people like the rest of us.
