Linda writes and I copy paste: Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “yarn.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!
My first thought was spinning a yarn. Ya know, a good ole story … a tall tale. Let’s get rolling. Picture it … Sicily 1922. Wait! this ain’t the Golden Girls and I’m not Sophia.
My mom read voraciously. That was passed along to me. I’ve such wonderful memories of her reading to us every bedtime. We each would take turns picking the story. My brother always chose the yarn of Paul Bunyan and Blue. There was another tall tale with pancakes 🥞 or a pancake eating contest. My memories are fuzzy on specifics but in this case fuzzy is nice, cozy, and warm. I wished I’d kept those books 📚
And with that my stream is slowing to a trickle. As soon as the sun comes up, I’ll go pick my cucumbers 🥒. Maybe later I’ll do a quick pickle.
Happy Saturday!!
Written for Linda G Hill’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday.
I still have a few children’s books (Where the Wild Things Are is still on my bookshelf) to recall those fuzzy, cozy, and warm bedtimes…… Thanks for the memories like sweet dreams.

I remember the towns people skating around a giant griddle with pads of butter on their feet so they could make Paul’s pancakes – mmmm,

It’s so blurry, could the same story then. I had to Google it and realize now the Ox was named Babe not Blue …
