This video gives me a much needed perspective. At Casa de Dub, we’re flying the flag and keeping things low key. Remembering all who made the ultimate sacrifice.
As always, more to come.
Jim took Lisa’s suggestion of City, Country, County, State, Town making it our prompt for today. Ah, the choices are seemingly limitless. Lulu suggested I use China Grove by the Doobie Brothers. “Obvious choice mom right?” Somehow I think I used that song already though. B suggested I’m Blind in Texas by Wasp. I instantly remembered that song from our heyday but misremembered the lyrics. I also was not too keen on writing about getting blackout drunk. Ya know when a buzz will do, go with the hum. I teetered with picking Wild World by Cat Stevens because cities, counties, countries, states, and towns make up the world. Finally I went with Pompeii by Bastille, songwriter: Dan Smith. Here’s a video with lyrics within.
As always, more to come.
I’m looking back at the last week but also the last year. I’m having lots of “hard to believe that happened only a year ago” moments. Forever in an instant. Dare I say we survived.
Our PoPo came back home from the hospital Tuesday. He was there from 4/25/21 to 5/25/21. He’s in a wheelchair but his spirits are good. P/T is kicking his butt but the surgeon told him he had to power through. Tough love, insisting he better be walking into the office the next time he sees him.
I worked 10, 11, or 12 hour days which is down right stupid. Ugh. Makes no sense to work that much. Nothing changes. The pile varies somewhat but never goes away. Maybe that’s a good thing. Job security?
But that’s ‘nuf whining, let’s move onto the reverse roll call …
Peace y’all. Until next time. Stay safe.
As always, more to come.
Time for #SoCS where the lovely Linda writes and I copy paste … Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “collect.” Use the word “collect” any way you’d like. Have fun! Well let’s get this show on the road. You too can play along by following the rules and ping back.
What a difference a year makes!! In May 2020, I was in a surreal state of disbelief. Maybe even still under stay orders. Caught in a vortex of uncertainty that I for one thought we’d never escape. It felt like the devil came calling to collect our souls. Ah what the heck am I talking about? Forever the Queen comma Drama.
Thursday night I couldn’t sleep. I was wired for sound. Whatever that means? I forget but us kids said “wired for sound” often growing up. I collect colloquialisms for a hobby. I tell ya what! Yeah buddy, that ain’t no lie. Now we’re cooking with gas. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.
Now where am I … or where was I? Oh yeah! I couldn’t sleep. So my mind was going places. As I lay there deep breathing and trying to relax, I had some really really good blog post ide’ers. I was sure I’d remember but alas I do not. Shame! They were Pulitzer prize zingers. Next time I get like that, I’m gonna git up and write down the gist of the thought, then go back to trying to git some shut eye. I must have my 7-8 hours nightly!
Why? Well to collect healthy points for $$ off my health insurance premium. We play games at work, going around, earning points for various activities. One activity is tracking our sleep. If we get 49 hours a week, then that equals 10 points. Since I work at home, I can make that happen. My prime sleeping hours are 11 to 7. With the exception of Thursday night. Why the insomnia? Work was getting the better of me.
But come Friday, with many people out of the office, I found myself with breathing room. I blocked the entire morning to catch up on healthy challenges and collect even more points. I am on the road to 3000 because I MUST HAVE that hoodie. I have surpassed the 2000 milestone which earns 5% off the premium (that’s the max allowed).
By far my favorite event was a quick 3.27 minute video where we exercise following along one of fitness instructors who I’m sure is chomping at the bit for us to get back into the office and back into the onsight gym. Super simple marching in place, hamstring curls, quick jog, then march again before the faux jump roping. I tell ya what, that was the bomb diggity. Faux jump roping is my jam. You should try it some time. Hell I’m gonna faux jump rope again right now!
This weird stream was brought to you by one J-Dub McGillicutty. Collector of memories and all things irrelevant. But dang nabbit doesn’t she have fun.
As always, more to come.
The last Friday of the month has arrived. I’m sharing this story in advance of Memorial Day – Carry the Load. ❣️ Honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice ❣️
#WATWB is a blog hop on the last Friday of every month. Here are the intention and rules. Which aren’t being maintained any more but I’m using just in case. Find #WATWB on FB and Twitter.
WATWB is co-hosted this month by: Susan Scott ( https://www.gardenofedenblog.com) and Eric Lahti (https://ericlahti.wordpress.com).
As always more to come.
Today is the day! Maybe? I’m going to another doctor for more tests. Staying off WebMD and Dr. Google. Trying to live my best life. Waxing philosophical, this quote struck a chord …
“It isn’t true that you live only once. You only die once. You live lots of times, if you know how.”
Bobby Darin
Wishing everyone a wonderful day!! We’ve got lots of living to do. Yeah buddy 🙂
More from Einstein…

I’m with Melanie! 2021 is definitely flying by making up for the lost laggard daze of 2020. Hold on to your hats my good fellows. Now for the Q&A …
QUESTIONS
What are you most proud of in the last year? My momma raised me to believe pride was a sin. Maybe only a venial sin but still being a sinner scared the bejesus out of me. I go to the extreme to be proud of nothing. My kids were impacted by my less than enthusiastic reaction to their accomplishments. It wasn’t me not being proud but me disliking the bragging, better than you mentality of too many parents these days. For that I am very sorry because with balance maybe I could have found something to brag about where my kids are concerned.
If you see a puddle on the ground, do you walk around it or give in to the child within and splash about? Depends on what shoes I am wearing. If at home around the place, you better believing I am kicking off my shoes and splashing. I have such fond memories of playing in water after the rain as a child. My brothers and I would sail little plastic boats down Pecan Valley Drive. The area was poorly developed which meant there was always running water to the drainage ditch which filled up like a cesspool. The water was really dirty at a minimum with oil off the roads. We’d be pirates on a treasure hunt finding shopping carts, tires, shoes, and other miscellaneous “things”.
Do you feel free? Why or why not? Hmm. Both. Technically I know I’m free but with that freedom comes accountability/responsibility. I stop myself more often than not which leads me to believe I’m captive if by only my own self imposed actions.
What life skills are rarely taught but are extremely useful? Money management. Things like how to budget and balance one’s accounts. It’s official, I have become my parents.
Gratitude:
“Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart, it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.” by AA Milne
My heart is also very small yet I strive to be more like Piglet.

Mixing lines between real or
Imaginary
I wanted to write something profound. But when you get two five syllable words that fit the prompt, you use them. not as impactful as I had hoped but pretty cool all the same.
