M: Idiom of the Day ~ 4/15/21

Starts with M – Money Doesn’t Grow on Trees

Jilly’s Take:  After a particularly wordy post yesterday, I’ll be brief. What kid has not heard this idiom from her mom or dad?!?.  Means you gotta work for your dough.  Earn it!!  Lol.  I LOVE this song and hope you do too. For more on today’s idiom LOOK here.

  1. Yep, I’ve used this one a time or two or twenty or a thousand times. My mom used to say “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked” but because she was known as Wicked Wanda. She was referring to herself working and partying all the time which she did in her thirties and early forties after divorcing my dad. She got married when she was 16 & had me at 19. She never got to her party years. 🙂

      1. My mom was a wild child at 37. She was in the bar of the hotel where my prom was. She waited for me to come down for the real party to start. LOL! Of course the drinking age was 18 and I was 18. 🙂 I had 1 1/2 years of partying in me. Got married at 20.

      2. I think we’ve lived parallel lives. I was 19 when I got married. Three months from my 20 birthday. We’d been “partying” since my freshman year of high school. That was long enough. Oh my! I haven’t thought of those days in ages.

      1. I didn’t think so at first, lol. But I get it now and that’s only one of many tattoos he has, but they stay hidden for the most part. He lives the song, so he has to be professional 🤗

      2. I’m still deciding what to get as my first tattoo. I enjoy seeing what others get for ideas. I just can’t decide. I want it to have a special meaning since it’ll be forever.
