A: Idiom of the Day ~ 4/1/21

Starts with A All that glitters is not gold

Jilly’s take:  All that glitters is not gold means appearances can be deceiving.  Don’t be fooled by the bright and shiny.  Underneath it may be very ugly in appearance and in deed.  As quoted in the book In An Instant by Suzanne Redfearn “It’s only when she opens her mouth that she turns ugly”.    Here is a link to more info on today’s idiom. Now let’s listen to the cool tunes of Led Zeppelin.

  1. This idiom is so true, and so OLD, it’s fascinating to read how far back in time it can be traced! I bet there is a version in many languages (we have it in Swedish too). My take as a jewellery maker would be “all that glitters is not gold, it could also be brass”.
