#SoCS ~ 2/6/21

Good morning y’all. Whew! What a week this has been I tell ya what. Boy howdy!! Time for #SoCS where Linda prompts us with the following:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “flag.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

But first! Thirty-seven (37) yep count ’em … 37 years ago, on this day, I started my first “real” as opposed to fake job.

Ha!

And they (or maybe it was me) said it wouldn’t last. I threaten to quit about every other day that first year. Once I went back to night school, I had plans to change careers and become a teacher moving completely out of insurance. But then, they allowed me to teach insurance!! Best of both worlds.

And would ya look at me now. I’m still here and still kicking. I get to scratch the teaching itch training our new hires on the two processes I own. Among all the other fun stuff.

I’m forever grateful for our neighbor Dovey Desborough aka Mimi for telling me to apply at USAA.

Look at me rambling on in true #SoCS style. Flag! Hmm. Think, think, and think …

Folds of honor

Lest we forget

All who sacrificed for this

Great nation

QT = Quick Time

They gave away one cup per person when the new QT opened up here two years ago on 2/2/19. One of my favorite cups due to the folds of honor and 59 cents refills. Of course now that we’re in a pandemic, there is a suspension of refills.

Telling on myself, I did mask it up and walk inside QT once early during the pandemic to grab a Dr. Pepper Icee as stress relief. When the clerk said “on the house” I was surprised until I realized later that day he probably didn’t want to ring me up with something I was not supposed to have anyway.

I can count on one hand the times I’ve filled up my tank this last year. Enough to drive less than 2000 miles. And even fewer times than that did I go inside for fear of catching the Rona. But those few times after the first time, I noticed the flag shaped signs big as day which state “No refills. Sorry for the inconvenience”. You can get new fountain drinks and Icees though. Not sure how different that is but oh well.

As always, more to come
