Friday Book Club: J-Dub’s Review of “Bloodline” by Jess Lourey ~ 2/5/21

I am on a roll y’all. First of twelve books read in 2021. I finished this one up back on January 3rd but waited to write this post since #JusJoJan was all the rage. I needed to pace myself.

I had read “Unspeakable Things” by the same author and liked it so when “Bloodline” was a free Kindle book of the month, I thought why not?

This is what I wrote for Goodreads: Easy to cheer for the protagonist Joan Harkin. This story is Stepford Wives meets Rosemary’s Baby with Deliverance mixed in. Shocking as it was entertaining.

See no spoilers and enough to pique your curiosity. AmIRight? I had misunderstood the book was based on a true story when instead a true event inspired the book. That’s a big difference in my opinion. Not big enough to change my mind about the rating. I’m no longer giving stars unless compelled to do so by a website. In my opinion, this book gets two thumbs up and a recommendation to check it out if you’re so inclined.

If you’ve read the book and want to chat about it, please drop a line in the comments.

As always, more to come.
