#JusJoJan 01/03/20

Hello fine folks of bloglandia.  Linda says and I repeat …

Your prompt for JusJoJan January 3rd, 2020, is “poke.” Find a word with “poke” in it or use the word “poke” any way you’d like. Enjoy!

Pinch poke you owe me a coke.

But I prefer Dr. Pepper.  Though I have all but given up soda.  Yay me!  The one thing I can do with any consistency.  Ginger ale for air travel and that’s about all these days.  And my air travel has been cut back significantly.

Speaking of poke, because we were … speaking of poke.

Yesterday I had my appointment with my new doctor who was highly recommended by three different people and drum roll please ………….

those dots are drums rolling ……….   lol

The results were less than spectacular.  The exam was cursory and he basically said so you want to continue your maintenance from your prior doctor.  Uh no! I want to know what the heck ails me.  Besides the obvious.

I should have known despite the recommendation that an available appointment so quickly was a red flag.  He was nice enough.  Got me in and out quickly.  Parking was free.  Labs were on site.

Speaking of poke, because we were.  And labs on site.  Lab Corp is not your Quest Diagnostics.  Though both places are in network and basically run self supported.  Like checkers and baggers in grocery stores have gone the way of the dinosaur, so have office staff at labs.  Three self-check in machines.  Very efficient.  Only the two drawing blood were on the clock.  No one to answer billing questions or other related “office” stuff.  An entire industry eliminated … almost.

Back to poke.

I am as they say in the business a hard stick.  I have become harder over time.  In looking for a good vein, she tried right, no options, left no good options though left is my blood donating arm.  Then she said let me show you a trick.  When all else fails, we use gravity.

She had me put my left arm straight down at an angle while still sitting in the donation chair.  She said one cannot see the vein that way but they can feel it.  I am already anxious but I closed my eyes and looked away.  I didn’t even feel the pinch/poke you owe me a coke.  Wah-La!!  Gravity got the blood flowing into the tube in record time and no bruise.

Sorry for this TMI post which is very much like #SoCS fodder because I am streaming the loop-de-loop train.  Back to looking for a new doctor.  I will at least get lab results out of the bargain.  I sort of knew this Goldilocks would have to try a few things out before finding someone just right.

As always, more to come.

To join in, here are the rules and ping back.

  1. They have a hard time poking me because I donated so often (over 10 gallons worth) and they always used the same arm because the veins were so good. Sorry the doc didn’t work out. Keep looking. The right one is out there.
