#JusJoJan and #SoCS for 1/19/19 ~ Television 📺

Good morning everybody!  Coming to you live in front of a studio audience, it’s J-Dub’s Adventures in Nonsense.

Sit right back and you’ll hear a tale, a tale of streaming consciousness.  As we watch Jots from the brain of one Ms. McGillicutty meander down memory lane while looking to the future.  On her show today we will be discussing “television.” We will talk about favorite shows, past, present, or future, and about the apparatus known as TV itself. Enjoyment for folks of all ages.

Ha! I am a television junkie y’all.  I am amazed at how far we’ve come with  the technology.  That alone is fascinating even before we get to the topic of what we watch.  I mean c’mon, who back in the 1950s would have thought people would have TVs all over their homes and not just the one small one with rabbit ears and only 4 channels? Who could have imagined we would watch TV from the palm of our hand while riding a recumbent bike?  I did that y’all … On my tiny iPhone 6 … with a broken arm after walking to school in the snow.

Huh? what? A random thought bubble.

I am back.  TV.  Some say it is rotting our brains and turning us into couch potatoes. I say anything can rot our brains if we let it.  Yes we need to exercise and all that jazz … we need balance.  To me, TV viewing is only a problem if you make it a problem.

Favorite shows past – Saturday morning cartoons, the Brady Bunch and Gilligan’s Island.

Favorite shows present – A Million Little Things, anything reality cooking or reality dancing .   Especially when it involves kids.  Those little bakers and dancers are adorable!!!!

Favorite shows future – hmmm how the heck would I know?  lol 🙂 BUT and it’s a big butt, I sure am excited to see what “they” the collective that is the TV entertainment industry and technology gurus develop.

Come with me folks; “Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy night” said in my aging stage actress Margo Channing/Bette Davis voice over voice. May have been a movie first but I saw “All About Eve” on the small screen.  Oh and lest we not forget the commercials.

Fin for now.

Oh wait!  Shameless beg for comments, tell me what if anything do you like to watch on TV?

As always, more to come.

To join the streamers and the jotters or to see their works extraordinaire here are the rules and ping back.

  1. LOL – excellent SoCS post! I loved Gilligan’s Island back in the day, now I’m hooked on re-runs of Big Bang Theory and Last Man Standing. I must admit – I get up at 4 ish in the morning, so any show after 6:30 or 7:00 pm is foreign to me.

  2. Hardly any TV and when I do watch I’m usually coloring too so who knows what I see. Drives the hubs crazy. I tell him, “I’m in the same room with you, aren’t I?” Once baseball starts you’ll find me glued to the TV again, but also still coloring or crafting. I may miss a play but with the replays, I don’t really. Netflix I do binge watch occasionally. Have just a few more episodes to finish in The Crown and a season of Grace and Frankie.

  3. I watch some sports. My wife and I watch situation comedies on DVD, but we don’t binge. One episode at a time, once or twice a week. It takes a long time to get through the season, like it did when it was on the air. I fill in the rest of the time with something on Hulu.

  4. We watch MeTV a lot, and some Cozi TV (Saturday nights for Columbo), This TV (The Saint on Saturday night), CBS (for NCIS and Hawaii Five-O), Ion (for NCIS Los Angeles, Criminal Minds, and CSI when we have an hour to kill) and The Justice Network (if none of the above is showing anything good). We gave up cable about 4 1/2 years ago, and have only dabbled in the streaming services (besides YouTube, which I use all the time).
