Happy Thursday folks!!! John @ The Sound of One Hand Typing prompted us with inch. Thanks for the prompt and a BIG hello this morning.
John is the music man and collector of rad vintage commercials. Check out a post of his here. Then peruse his site. I guarantee you that you’ll learn something new and cool.
INCH – my first thought is give them and inch and they’ll take a mile. Greedy buggers. Not you who are reading this … nope. If I gave you an inch, I am sure you’d say thanks. Taking a mile is for schmucks. < thought bubble…image of Steve Carell and Paul Rudd >.
Ugh! Get out of my head. This is not the film “Dinner for Schmucks” and/or #SoCS.
Up next, inch worm, inch worm give me a mile. Doh! That’s not right.
What was it? Oh ya. There was this toy you see. That I had to have. But never got. Why? well because my parents realized it had no staying power. You’re getting a bike they said. And that bike was the best gift ever.
Can’t picture an inchworm? Well in typical JH fashion, here is a vintage commercial.

As always, more to come.
I had an inchworm 🙂

Those were fun commercials! I think my grandson had one of those toys, but they came out too late for my girls.

Funny. As I rambled on about in my take on the prompt, I hated that stupid worm!

I remember the Inch Worm. I was too old for it but I remember. Remember Romper room too! She never said “Janet” while I was watching 😦

I may have been too old when I asked for an Inchworm which is why I got the bike. I do not remember watching Romper Room. I did watch Sesame Street and if memory serves Romper Room came on immediately after. Mom would say turn off the TV and go outside!!

Interesting prompt. One could have a lot of good ups and downs with that one. Got me to thinking about the little marks on tape measures that few know what they are for and fewer use.

In sewing, my mom knew what they were for and used them. She tried to teach me and it didn’t stick.

I forgot Romper Room sponsored a line of toys, although my guess is they didn’t actually manufacture them. Well played!

Thanks! When I first saw inch as the prompt, I had no idea where this would go. Down memory lane again 😂
