For the third time in as many days, someone has commented to me beginning with the words I am confused. Not surprising because I am often confused too. Perhaps I am not as witty as I think. Or maybe my brain goes faster than my fingers can type.
Anyway, I am taking it as a challenge to be more clear and not hide behind big words or innuendos. That is most likely the case. I am hinting at feelings and emotions too painful or embarrassing to share. But I am compelled to write nonetheless. I want you to guess because saying things even virtually makes them real and we cannot have that around here … or can we?
It’s time for another SLS, and Helen has asked us for songs with numbers. Thanks, Helen!
Helen mentioned how people tend to see numbers in a funny way. I know I’ve seen the numbers on the clock read 1:11, or 11:11, and usually take note of it. Sometimes I see the numbers in order, as 12:34, and this morning I woke up at 5:55.
Is there some special meaning to seeing numbers like this? I don’t know if there is any significance to it, but it’s fun to think there is, and maybe we’re supposed to make a wish!
This song I chose, I’ve heard on the radio a few times, and always liked it. I had no idea who sang it, or the title, but knew it had…
Wonder Man is NOT a typo y’all. This is my blog and I make the rules here ya see! Lol!
And I can hear you thinking:
“who does she thinks she is?”
“we’re not reading her stinkin blog anyways”
And as sweet Mother Abigail would’ve said to Stu or Larry or Ralph or me “Mayhaps they will?”
Good gravy girlie, you’ve lost it some today.
What you mean is you hope they will still read your schtick even after this post is posted.
When we got home from the grocery store, I ate my cinnamon twist and finished my coffee without one ounce of guilty. I even ate lunch y’all. Not starving myself anymore. Trying not to switch to the other extreme either. Taking things day by day.
While I was taking this “me” time, B cleaned house. And now he is out mowing the yard. Because it needs to be done. He amazes me because I know he has got stuff going on too. For none of us are immune. Still he is my Wonder Man. And I am truly blessed.
For years Celeste simply existed. Her routine was as ingrained in her DNA. The fiber of her being. The blood coursing through her veins. The rituals made her tick. She powered through the work week doing everything for everybody with few exceptions. Going to work expended every ounce of her energy. She couldn’t cook or keep house. She believed to her core that she had failed as a mother and a wife. As an employee, she hid it! She was compelled to go to work and excel while she was there. She had not taken a “sick” day in over two years. But it was all a sham. She wondered when they would find out. Each day closer to Friday at 5 added to her pending relief.
Upon arriving home on those blessed Friday evenings, she shed her costume and wiped every trace of that other woman from her face. She became a hermit. Exhaustion pulled her to her bed. The twins would fend for themselves or hubby would step in. Celeste would not come out again until Sunday afternoon. Then the panic would set in. The fear of facing another week. Another 5 days of the grind. With all the strength she could muster, she’d prepare. The tasks needed to get ready and to steady herself. The night would be fraught with twists and turns, this she knew. Yet she could not stop the cycle of simply existing.
Today’s prompt is numbers. Thank you Helen! There is a plethora of choices and choosing was very hard. In the end, I went with Thunder Kiss 65 thinking it would be little known.
