#JusJoJan for 1/21/18 ~ Silence

Prompt:¬†Silence suggested by Willow.¬† Follow this link to her blog.¬† You’ll be glad you did.¬†¬†https://willowdot21.wordpress.com/

Post by: J-Dub.

I posted Bridge Over Troubled Water written by Paul Simon and performed by Simon and Garfunkel for Song Lyric Sunday

If I had remembered today’s #JusJoJan was silence, I could have had a two-fer.¬† The Sound of Silence was also¬†written by Paul Simon and originally performed by Simon and Garfunkel.¬† To shake things up, I picked the cover by Disturbed.

Notice the silent beginning?  I checked the volume on my media player twice to make sure the video was working.  Chilling silence but in a good way.

When narrow-minded folks label in the way they often do, they must not realize that the human connections defy any label.  We are the world.

Folk duo covered by alt rock.  Symphony merging with metal royalty.  These are two of many other examples.

Sometimes it feels like from our earliest memories we are put in boxes, labeled and closed with tape.  Society thinks we are not supposed to get out of that box and interact with someone different from us.  And when that happens, it is a pitiful shame because diversity is our biggest capital gain.  What I love most about music is the union it brings despite any other differences.

So much for being silence huh?  More like big mouth opinion girl.  Anyways, I had no idea where this was going until ink spilled onto the virtual page.  I am back in my head again.  So much going on in the world.  Everything lately is ripped from the headlines.

Only 10 more entries before #JusJoJan is fin!¬† But it¬†is never too late to join in.¬† well in 11 days, it will be too late but … nevermind ramble girl.

For 1/21/18

The prompt is comfort.  Which puts me like a deer in the headlights when it comes to a song selection.  All music brings me comfort.  How could I ever decide?

Drop all the song titles in a hat maybe?

Nope, I’ll just pick the first one that comes to mind.

Bridge over Troubled Water” is a song by American music duo¬†Simon & Garfunkel. Produced by the duo and¬†Roy Halee, the song was released as the follow-up single to “The Boxer” in January 1970. The song is featured on their fifth¬†studio album,¬†Bridge over Troubled Water¬†(1970). Composed by singer-songwriter¬†Paul Simon, the song is performed on piano and carries the influence of¬†gospel music.

Bridge Over Troubled Water performed by Simon and Garfunkel.
When you’re weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes I will dry them all
I’m on your side when times get rough
And friends just can’t be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When you’re down and out
When you’re on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I will take your part oh
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Sail on silvergirl Sail on by Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you need a friend
I’m sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

Thank you Helen, great prompt!
