Happy New Year!

I am going to participate in more prompts and challenges in 2018.  How’s that for a New’s Resolution?  One I surely won’t break because being selfish, I do enjoy a good prompt or challenge.  And what’s the harm?  To quote my daddy, whenever a minor inconvenience … well inconvenienced us, he’d say “No harm done, it could be worse.”

Lulu does not make New Year’s Resolutions and neither does B.  Though B said if he did, he’d resolve to end all social media.  He never complains but sometimes I think he’d prefer I not spend so much time online.  When he made his snarky comment I asked him why?  Was what I was doing really so awful?  I am writing my stories and reading nuggets of gold.  I wasn’t hurting anyone.  My guilty pleasure is free! Non caloric! Wholesome fun! I wasn’t out catting around.  And I could be! Lol! Can you just picture it?  Me? catting around.  OMgoodness! I have officially lost it … if I ever had it … now it is nowhere to be found.

How was our 2017?  Well to quote a wonderful soul, John Holton, who has one of the best blogs out there The Sound of One Hand Typing I have a similar sentiment:

Not bad.  Not great, but not bad.

And I guess considering the alternative, not bad is pretty okay.

We are staying in.  Way too cold for anything else.  Even attempting to see the one and only Pat Benatar.  We’ll watch New Years Rocking Eve and eat junk food instead.

What an awful habit but it’s only for one meal on one day isn’t it?  When I get myself all spun up on things that don’t really matter, I need to remember that.  One day will pass.  The collective is what matters.

Anyway, CHEERS to a bigger and better 2018!

The theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is “sugar/candy”.

Originally written by Composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, I chose the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. My first attempt and I am already breaking the rules.  No lyrics, just sounds.  Next time I will pick a song with lyrics.  This song sticks with me since I just saw some stills of the Nutcracker on exhibition yesterday.
