Do you have a favorite Christmas meal?
We usually did a repeat of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with turkey and dressing but we may have added a Christmas ham. Always so many desserts to create a festive sampler plate.
The year we lost my dad, the four of us ate a venison, mashed potatoes and green bean feast. Sad but not sad if that makes any sense. Daddy would have loved the venison.
Now we no longer really have a traditional Christmas meal. Well wait … that’s not true. Christmas Eve is always chili and tamales with seven layer and hot Rotel cheese dips. Oh and cocktail smokies, fancy cheeses and crackers. Still more desserts than you can shake a stick at.
Where did that idiom come from? Who shook the first stick at anyone? I could Google it but I am burning daylight as the Duke would have said. I’ve got places to go and people to see.
Wishing everyone a blessed Sunday.
As always, more to come.
