After Lulu was born, I took a job working nights. I became daytime nanny and Billy was nighttime nanny. That way I could stay part-time and we’d save the cost of daycare. I had just lost my mom after all. She was our original daytime nanny. I miss my mommy!! Especially at times like this. But this post is about levity so I’ll continue.
My coworker introduced another coworker (carpool buddy) to the comedy stylings of Roy D Mercer. We’d listen to these cassettes on the car rides home. Yes you read that right! Cassettes. It was 1999 after all. Today these gems are on You Tube and converted to CDs. They’re still just as cheesy as ever.
I re-discovered Roy when a blogging friend and I commented back and forth about prank calls in the 70s. Last week at work I listened to these to relieve anxiety of Lulu’s pending surgery. And I got a lot of work done! Distraction causes focus! Oxymoron alert! And you see I don’t need no stinking alprazolam. I just need laughter. Even my physical pain went away. Laughter. The best analgesic out there!!
Take a listen. I hope you enjoy!!
